Become a Volunteer

At the Puyallup Food Bank, we rely on the generous service of our volunteers to provide relief to our neighbors in all aspects of our daily operations. We promise to provide you a place where you can serve, love and give to your neighbor as part of a community of hope.

Volunteer activities include the following and more:

Here are a few of our volunteer activities. We especially love it when someone is flexible to move between roles as the need arises:

  • Morning or Afternoon:
    • Receptionist: Answer the phone, schedule appointments, data entry (customer service experience is a plus).
    • Administrative Volunteer: Data entry, copying, mailing, organizing the office space.
    • Driver: Pick up food from local grocery stores and businesses.
  • Afternoon Only:
    • Check-in: Check-in clients for their appointment, communicate with other volunteers to serve them (customer service experience is a plus).
    • Bagger/Boxer: Assemble boxes and bags of frozen/refrigerated food, fresh produce, and bakery items for distribution.
    • Cart Runner: Carry boxes and bags of food out to clients during their appointment (must be able to lift 20lbs).
  • Morning Only:
    • Stocker: Prepare boxes with non-perishables, stock freezers/refrigerators with food for distribution.
    • Sorter: Sort dry goods and fresh produce, stock and organize pick lines.
    • Order Picker: help our warehouse coordinator pick orders for partner organizations, organize freight in the warehouse.
  • Other:
    • Event Volunteer: Help out during our fundraisers or events.
    • Evening Team: Help out with all of the above one or more evenings per month.
